Grapeseed with a Capital ‘G’

Grapeseed with a Capital ‘G’ – Cooking, Cosmetics and Medicine

Mitchells boast highly skilled fabrication staff that don’t rely heavily on automation to manufacture equipment. The result? A diverse range of projects, often in unusual industries.

One such project has been for a Grapeseed oil crushing plant in Spain. Mitchells has recently obtained an order to supply a specialised Extractor Discharge conveyor to process grapeseeds at this new site.

Grapeseed oil is pressed from the seeds of grapes and is therefore a by-product of winemaking.

The oil has high Linoleic acid and polyunsaturated fat content, which gives it a light, clean taste when used in cooking.

Grapeseeds

In the cosmetics industry, grapeseed oil is a specialty ingredient used to control moisture in the skin, as well as a lubricant for shaving.

There is also some evidence to suggest the oil has potential medical benefits, by increasing high-density lipoprotein (good cholesterol) levels whilst reducing low density Lipoprotein levels in the body and thus reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
